Sayonara Densha Girl…

Someone searched for “Japanese word for crab” and landed on my blog hahaha.

In case the person comes back again, it is 蟹 (かに/Kani).

Also Pot is 鍋 (なべ/Nabe) in Japanese..

And in japan.. they sell Kani Nabe hehe Crab in the hot pot.

I told my Japanese friends about it and they found it quite funny. When some of them came to visit me, the kept talking about Kani Nabe…. LOL!

This also reminds me of Yeo’s drink.. remember the 金玉茶 ?  It’s read as Kintama Cha in Japanese.. which means.. Testicle Tea! LOL! My friend bought about half a dozen back to Japan as souvenirs! LOL!

Reading Sharon Au’s blog has inspired me to want to study Japanese again. And I have been thinking about it for the longest time but have not done anything about it!

Anyway…

Since I cannot go to Japan like her (boo hoo hoo!), I will have to make do learning Japanese in England!

I’m thinking of signing up for evening classes at the University of London… Term has started so I can’t sign up for now… which is good cos I want to think it through and make sure I’ll not give up Japanese again!

I also stumbled upon JapanesePod101.com  and it seems like it’s quite good and I can download and listen to the mp3 while I’m in the train on the way to work. If JapanesPod101 will work for me, then I might consider signing up for the class. I have signed up for a free trial account and was listening to some scary Japanese story! Kowaiiiiii!! So scary!!!

Hmmm…

Anyway, I know how to knit already!! The scarf is going pretty well at the moment! My mother-in-law taught me how to do it. 🙂 Husband will soon have a warm scarf! I’m looking forward to knitting another one for myself and then go on to more interesting projects!!

I was Brain Training on the way to work on Friday…I was playing Word Blend which ask you to identify word spoken simultaneously…

I was doing really well! Until I heard this.. Ka-Ra-Tee. I didn’t know what it was! And gave up! And turns out.. It’s Karate – KA-RA-TEH! Argh! That cost me some points! Grrr. Please listen the correct pronunciation here!

And the same night, I was watching some show on tv and this guy said he likes to eat Wa-ka-MEE! Please lah!! It is Wakame as in Wa-ka-meh!

Argh! I hate it when the ang mohs like to anyhowly pronounce Japanese words! Here is a useful list on how to pronounce some common Japanese words. And to all you westerners who like to say Ka-ree-okee, please check this out!!

Am suddenly wanting to learn how to knit!

Should I be scared??

Hehehe

Anyway, where do I start? Am looking at videos on Videojug and I think I want to knit a scarf.. for myself and husband. And also knit something for our baby… NO lah not pregnant now hehe but I’m thinking it would be nice to knit something for our baby hahaha and also I saw some lovely vintage knitting patterns on ebay and I would love to have one of those!!

Plus, Dr. Kawashima (from Brain Training – DS game) said knitting is good for the brain!
