Just received this email from a friend… and I am now really annoyed!

Dear All,

Few weeks ago, some of us tasted the famous Tiger Beer Chilli Crab at Bricks Lane. I understand there are some disappointment over the cooking.

Yesterday, I met up with the Manager in Kiasu and provided them the feedback. I was told they have to tone down the level of chilli as instructed by the Management Company that organised the event. In fact they were being advised there would be more Western tourists!

So, here is another chance for chilli crab. Kiasu restaurant has already introduced Chilli Crab into the menu. They are in the process of drawing up a new menu but do not hesitate to ask for Chilli Crab even if it is not on the menu yet. If you have any chance of trying the chilli crab in Kiasu, please share with us your experience.

For those who do not know where Kiasu restaurant is, here is the information :

Kiasu Restaurant
48 Queensway, Bayswater
London W2 3RY
Tel : 0207 727 8810

I hope this update will be useful to all of you.

Regards

Well, this update is not only useful, it’s annoying as well!

I don’t know who is telling the truth. I’m not sure if the restaurant was really asked to toned down but anyway….

How can you say you want to organise a Singapore food festival when you are serving “toned down” Singapore food?!?!?!

And it’s not just the bloody chilli crabs! It’s the chicken rice and char kway teow as well! Who the hell wants to go to Singapore for a salty chicken rice and a bland char kway teow? Someone with no sense of taste, perhaps?!

I don’t think I will go for any events organised by the STB or anything to do with Singapore food because i know i’ll be so disappointed… unless .. they fly in REAL hawkers from Singapore and they must cook their food in their white singlet!

I’m going to tell every single friend of mine not to go for such events anymore because it’s not real Singapore food. Heck, I’m sure I can cook better than that.. I just need some practice! I’m sure my char kway teow will not be that tasteless like the one that was sold for £5 0r was it £3.50? Whatever lah, it was quite expensive for that small portion.

Argh! This is just plain ridiculous! Selling “toned down” Singaporean food to thousands of people hoping to attract them to Singapore! Please lah!

Had a haircut today…

My stylist is a Spaniard. He is quite cool.. and he also had his trousers hanging off his bum thus showing his pants… (in the UK, must say trousers ..cos pants = underwear/panties… My husband say one and there was once i asked him if he saw my pants and he said yes and then promptly brought my panties to me! I actually meant my trousers! anyway..)

Yeah, i like my haircut.. it is alright.. so Husband was happy.. and very relieved. He told me he has been praying that I’ll like my haircut because he doesn’t like me to complain about it like the last few times!!! hehe

I miss my hairstylist in Singapore. I think he is the best. I wish I’m filthy rich so i can fly him over just to cut my hair! Well.. actually, if i’m filthy rich, i’d fly back to Singapore for a haircut, visit my family and friends and have a plate of chicken rice.. and maybe add in a plate of char kway teow with lots of cockles and chilli.. and also a bowl of beancurd and sambal kangkong.. oh and also the fish head curry from Toa Payoh Lorong 8. Oh.. and also lots of shopping!!

I miss home 😦 Boo hoo hoo!!

Yesterday’s Tiger Beer Singapore Chilli Crab festival was a DISAPPOINTMENT.

The only thing Singaporean about it is the queuing up for the FREE goodie bag and the queuing up for the food!

Chicken rice was too salty! The Char Kway Teow was bland. We could only taste the oil and chilli! Yucks! The Chilli Crab was ok.. not that bad but could be better. The lion dance was pathetic! The lion was so small… a Singaporean boy (about 8 yrs old) said it’s a dog! HAHAHAHA! There were no cymbals just drums! I wish i’d taken a pic of that “dog” but i was too busy complaining to Husband about it.

Please lor STB! If you want to have such events, please fly in the best hawkers from Singapore and let them serve REAL Singapore food to the people!! And also maybe fly in the No.1 lion dance troupe from Singapore and not hire some dodgy troupe that has a small lion that looks like a dog! Oh and with a big drum and cymbals please! Not a little drum that the drummer could strap over his shoulder. It’s not a snare drum!!

ARGH!

I felt it’s a total misrepresentation of Singapore!

Anyway, we left after finishing our food and walked around Spitafields market and went to Absolute Vintage. It’s so big! I think it’s a Vintage Heaven to Vintage lovers!

We went to Portobello Market and it was fantastic! Brilliant! Hog Heaven! Almost wanted to get a flat cap but it was 20quid.. couldn’t bear to pay that much for one but came home to check that it actually cost 65quid! DOH! But it was a bit too big for my small head though.. ah well. Oh and we chanced upon this nice little malaysian cafe called Makan. We ordered Char Kway Teow cos we were really disappointed by the one at the festival! Anyway, this time, it was much better! We were both really happy! Too bad there’s no cockles in it..Oh, The malaysian waiter was really impressed when Husband could pronounce Char Kway Teow perfectly! hehe

Back to Portobello Market….

I was looking at some cool boots at a stall when Husband reminded me that I still have a pair of boots that I’ve never worn and the stall owner turned round to me and said.. “Rule #1! Never bring your boyfriend with you when you go shopping! Especially to my stall!” LOL! It was so funny. I agree with her.. which is what I might do next time.. hehehe Or I’ll leave the Husband at the Makan cafe while i walk around the market.. 😀

Might go write a letter to STB now… or maybe after my Brain Training and er.. maybe after playing Hotel Dusk Room 215. I’m close to solving the mystery!!

… for the Tiger Beer Singapore Chilli Crab Festival @ Brick Lane, London!

I am so excited! I am so looking forward to trying the food. It better be good! Or I will be writing to STB and my first sentence will be “Please lor!”.

I hope i won’t be disappointed..

Check out the website! And check out the “What’s new” section. Terry Tan, the chef… reminds me of Dick, my ex boss! They look quite alike! It’s quite annoying! Argh! But it’s alright now. Dick got what he deserved (he was asked to leave! yahoo!).

Anyway…

I am so looking forward to this. Husband and I were talking about it last night and we are thinking of going to starve ourselves the night before.. and eat our body weight worth of singaporean food.. hehehe.. IF it doesn’t cost us too much! ho ho ho

Just remembered this conversation I had with my grandma (aka Grandma101 cos she’s 101 this year! and my friends call her that..and i think it’s cool lol) . I love her to bits and I miss her so much!

————————

Grandma101: How old are you this year? 28?

Me: I’m going to be 30!

Grandma101: Aiyoh, you better get married soon! Your bones are getting hard!

Me: HAHAHAHA

Grandma101: I’m going to give you $200 to buy a gold bangle. I’ve kept that money for you for a long time! $200 for you and $50 for your husband.

———————————

Husband wasn’t too impress with the $50. He thinks he should have more hehehe.

I remembered once we bought Grandma101 to the Jewellery shop. She was about 99 then and she was going to get some gold chain for someone in the family (can’t remember who). I remembered her bargaining with the boss and we all (6 of us) were amused by her bargaining skills. She was so persistant! The boss was amused too… and gave her a good discount. 🙂 Hurrah!

There’s not much time left for you to vote for the new 7 wonders of the world!

Help make history and vote for the new 7 wonders of the world!

What are you going to vote for?

My 7 votes will go for.. the Taj Mahal, The Great Wall of China, Angkor… and.. er i am not sure yet.. but I am definitely not voting for the Eiffel Tower.. not that I hate the French hehe but I think it’s just an attraction and does not deserve to be one of the 7 Wonders of the World!

Go spread the word! 🙂

is THE DAY!

I’m now waiting for the makeup lady. I’ve showered and everything so I don’t know what else to do!!

I’m a little bit nerouvs and very excited. H2B is worried that he might stepped on my skirt and then i’ll trip over and he’ll end up on top of me while we’re walking down the aisle! hahaha.

I called my mother yesterday and she reminded me to pick 4 numbers for her so she can get the 4D! That’s my mum for you! hahaha. I better get the numbers ready so i can pick them when i come back.

Oh.. and Thanks again everyone for your well wishes! 🙂

Er.. ok.. i think i’ll better get ready now. hehe 🙂 See ya!

This is really cool!

I might use this piece of music for the Assembly of guest.. hmmm.. I really like the rock version! But the average age of my guests is about… 50? LOL! There are lots of old people there…

I need music/songs for the assembly of guests (3 to 4 songs), entrance of the bride (one song), signing of the register (2 or 3) and the exit (1 song).

We still can’t decide what songs/music we want. Should we stick to the classical music? Hmmm

My future mother-in-law thinks I should walk down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t she lovely”. But i prefer Clay Aiken’s version but i can’t seem to find it anywhere! I’m also thinking of Love by John Lennon but it’s a bit like too slow…. (listening to it now makes me want to cry lol) and also The look of love by Dusty Springfield.

Oh..I will be walking down the aisle with my Husband (to be!).. No one will be giving me away 😦 I wish my mum will be here.. boo hoo hoo. Ah well, we can do this again in Singapore LOL.

My future brother in law says that if the entrance of the bride is Isn’t She Lovely, then his brother deserves to have the song, Mr Bombastic! HAHAHAHA SO funny.

That’s the time I have to get everything ready for the wedding!

Yeah, it’s kinda rush I know…. and no lah, I’m not pregnant! What were you all thinking!

We’re going to have a small wedding (ie. no friends or relatives from SG will attend! BOO HOO HOO!) so I guess it’s not going to be a nightmare putting everything together!

Anyway, we got:

1. Rings from ebay (they are new, not used hor). Anyway.. we got a pair of celtic rings cos he’s celtic. They are lovely i think. And his ring finger is so fat and it’s too big for my thumb! LOL!

2. A wedding dress off ebay. Also new. I hope it fits! It’d better be cos i gave them my measurements! Was gutted the one I saw at Debenhams didn’t have my size!! GRRR

3. Booked the restaurant. We’re going for Indian! Yahoo! Cos am sick of Italian food and the chinese restaurants here suck. We like that Indian place and they know us so we get good price! And it’s going to be all paid for by his mum. YAY.

4. Booked the makeup lady who apparently has won a BAFTA before!

Hmm i guess that just leaves us with:

1. Hire a suit for Husband to be! (HEE HEE). It’d be nice to see him in a Frock Suit!

2. Finalised the wedding stuff with the registrar.

Hold on.. is that all? I’m sure there are some more stuff to do…

Oh yes..

3. We need to find a witness! 2 actually! but that’s not going to be a problem.

Well i think we’re ready.. really.. or are we? hmmm. I don’t think much will change after we get married cos we’ve been living together for quite a while and we got used to each other’s sickening habits (hehe). ..so i guess we’ll be fine! hehe

Spoke to my mum today and told her about my plans too and she said as long as I’ve thought about it and have made my decision, she’s not going to stop me since I’m not young anymore! So i guess she has, as what my future mother-in-law said.. “reconciled with the fact that I am going to marry a big white blob!”

HAHAHAHAHAHA

-edit-

I forgot about the wedding shoes! I will get them online i guess.. not too keen on going to the bridal boutiques here… don’t like being served by over enthusiastic sale staff…

A few nights ago… i had a very odd dream.

I dreamt the PM of Singapore and all the MPs were roasting a duck. Yes.. everyone of them roasting A duck.

They then ate all the duck and left just a duck leg (the drumstick) for my family. Then my mum ate all of it on her own and left the skin for me! Oh and also the bone too!!!!

I got really upset with her and scolded her … it went something like this “How could you finish the whole leg? And just left the skin for me? I came back all the way from the UK and now all I get is some duck skin?!?! ARGH!!”

I don’t really understand what this dream is all about …. hmmmmmm
